Light Bulb Question

I have a 39gallon tank with 3 tangs, 2 clowns and a sebae anenome. There is also 45 pounds of live rock in it. I plan to have a few more anenomies and some coral. I wanted to upgrade the lighting and i wanted to know what type i should get? I was going to buy a hood with 2 light holders in it but i do not know what type of bulbs i need. Thanks.

I emphatically agree with Alice. Return the tangs and the anemone. Read the book she suggested. It willl help give you a better grasp on the magnitude of the project you are undertaking. Assuming this is a fairly new tank it is way over stocked and the fish and anemones aren't good choices for a beginner. Read some of the long threads from the past 10 days, anemones are often contriversial enough but recently the keeping of tangs in small tanks has come under a lot of flack within the hobby. You are undertaking one of the most fascinating hobbies I know of but one that carries quite a bit of personal responsibility. Please take time to educate your self and be a responsible reef keeper

Hi esprits,

I wrote a lighting article for a friends site that is in reference to beginners questions on lighting. Check it out if you like:
