Life and Death on the Reef
Hey guys! I just got back from a night dive (no pods, woo hoo!) and saw some very interesting events take place. Amoung them, is this worm.
This is actually a free swimming worm, but the only time I could get a pic is when is crashed into the sand. It swims very, very fast up and down the tank. Than all of a sudden...BAMM!!! Smack into my fungia, which has feeding tentacles out, waiting for a meal. "Very cool" I think, I caught everything else on film.
The worm is caught in the coral, struggling to free itself. But the coral is strong. Stinging the worm, it slowly moves it towards it's hungry mouth. Slowly...
The worm is now being shoved into the corals mouth, but the worm is still struggling.
Now, the worm is half in, half out, and gets free from some of the tentacles on the outside of the coral. I thought at that moment he had gotten free, but it was not meant to be, and within seconds, the worms was devoured.
This was just seconds afterward.
I also saw this crab hangin out on a rock.
See you all later!
Drew

Hey Drew, I think you have one of everything in that tank of yours. Your like a low budget Noah.
I haven't seen any of the bad pods on my fish, alot of the scavenger pods come out sometimes. I get a Canary Blennie tommorow from FFexpress. I have been hearing occasional popping and I saw a couple of crabs like the one you have the other nite, I guess I might have to set a trap or two.

Hey Buzz, best of luck with the blenny, I would also recommend the hogs. You will love the blenny, although some people have reported problems getting theirs to eat. I fed my tank tonight for the first time in about 5 days, and every fish ate. I love that noah line, like Alice said. Brilliant!

Great pics Drew! We are going to miss these when you go back to school and have to sleep!
If you go back and read his commentary like a Discovery Channel voice-over, or that crocodile guy, you will die laughing!
BTW, I have that same crab Drew. After the mishap with trying to get the teddy-bear crab out with tweezers (ended up spearing it right between the eyes) I am reluctant to try to move it to the sump, and I can't bring myself to go in there with the intention of harpooning it.

You mean the Croc Hunter? hehehe, now that I reread it your right! Thats pretty funny.
Man, I got so many crabs in my tank its unbelieveable. There was this one rock, I saw 6 different crabs on it. THen I redirected a PH near it and there haven't been any crabs there since. O boy, now I have to find them all over again...

Drew, now that you are the Canary Blenny expert, what do you feed yours? I see him hunting in the rocks but he seems to only go after something a couple of times while I was watching. My tang has chased him a bit, but he doesn't seem to concerned. I guess if I had venomous fangs I wouldn't either. :}
