LFS Story
I stopped in a LFS that I had never been in, but I needed a new bulb. (My clown fish, in an attempt to bite me splashed water on my 400 MH bulb and of course it sounded like a gun when it exploded.) but I digress, in talking with the owner of the shop about tanks I told her I was thinking about selling mine and she said half the stuff I have would be useless ie: the skimmer the sump and most of the live rock as well as the MH's 'cause we just don't do it that way anymore. That is old school, the best way is with flouresent bulbs and undergravel filters. Needless to say I didn't get a bulb and didn't even look at the livestock.

Strange, I thought the old school was the undergravel filter and flourescent lights, not the other way around. Scary fishstore. Mine is okay, you just have to take their advice with a grain of salt. At least they own their own saltwater tanks at home.

Let me make a resounding 3rd on that! That information is backwards. Good move on walking out the door.

They are stuck in an episode the twilight zone.
I think the best way to run a tank is with coral skeletons and NO "grow" bulbs from walmart.

Nothing they are the new thing. See here is how they work. They suck all the detritus down into the graval so you cant get to it and neither can anything else. Then after a couple months you have to tear the entire thing apart to clean it and VIOLA your tank is as good as new.
