LFS purchase
today I went to the LFS and stocked up on some supplies. one of my purchases was a 12" striped moray eel. price of $39.99 a good price a great price at a LFS.
when I got home I went over my receipt and saw the gal only charged me $3.99.
has this happed to anyone else and what did u do?
by the way it was a national chain store.

I wouldnt tell em since its a national chain. If its a LFS, you gotta tell em, since its so hard for them to survive as it is. But I also believe in Karmaa lol.

i'd make the moray eel go get a job and pay back the salesclerk the difference.
but seriously....national stores allow for these mistakes and write-off the losses like this as "skrinkage"....they really didn't loose that much money because my guess is they paid about $10 wholesale for it....so I would just ignore and move on.
once I went to TacoBell and bought $3 worth of food via the drive-thru. I handed the cashier a $5 and he gave me change back as if I gave him a $20. I didnt realize it until I was 2miles down the road.... did I turn back? nope. I wrote it off for payback for all the wrong drive-thru orders I have recvd.

I once got a Flame Angel at a chain store that was mislabeled as a Rusty Angel. The difference was about 35 bucks, i felt guilty but got over it by the principle that i saved it from pending quick death in a terrible system.
I feared karma would reciprocate by having the fish infect my system, but it didnt. I could NEVER do that to a LFS.

Chain Stores are EVIL IMO. At least the one in the my area is. Their tanks are a discrase, The livestock is often sickly, dead fish often remain in the tanks for long periods of time, sell known defective equipment, and they buy from known Cyanide collectors. Anything that helps make then decide to stop selling livestock is ok in my book.

If you were still at the register, maybe, but you didn't do anything to delibrately cause this. no tag switching, no playing with the tag? then not your fault. That's what they get for hiring stupid people. consider it Karma payback for all the fish they've doomed just to fill their pockets.
If it had been a good LFS, then yes, I'd go back, because they need our support to stay open. I'd rather pay $8.99 for a damsel that I know is good and healthy rather than $2.99 for one from the chain stores, that might not make it a week.
Just my 2 cents,
Chris

it's not shoplifting if the clerk puts it in your bag
they actualy lost about $5 in the transaction
I wouldn't say anything,
but I would feel really bad about it

Double True. It pains me to see some chain stores who have SW fish and coral and no one to care for it. One exception was a Petland Store i recently went to in my hometown of Pensacola, FL. I was actually impressed at how well the SW selection was cared for. Very rare though.
