Lettuce Slugs/ Olympic algae

Hey, when does dead rock become liverock? I put these Miami surfrocks in the tank with 175W MH, on for 10 hours daily. Now 9 days later the rocks are covered with brown and green algae. Also there is some coralline. Now I am starting to see filaments coming up, hair algae on the way. Gotta get an algae eater. Circle of life and all that. Does anyone know of a source for lettuce slugs (Tridachia/Elysia crispata)?

Update on the lighting situation, I put 5 gallons more water in the tank, that's about 6". So it is almost full- 3" less than a 20gal tank. That allows splashing from the surge generator. The corals are happy, starting to open up- please be careful with shallow tanks and MH lighting! Also there are tube worms everywhere, anthozoans, sea squirts, you could spend a year studying one LR. Anyway, if anyone knows where to get lettuce slugs, please tell. Thanks,
John

Hi John,
You can get Lettuce Nudibranches at:
http://www.gulfspecimen.org/catalog.html
Look under the mollusk section of their "Catalog by Mail".

Surf Rocks? Like wet rocks off the beach? If that's what you have, then you had live rock from the get-go. Just watck out for all the interesting hangers-on that you will get that come from near shore as opposed to farther out where rock normally gets collected from. And try to mention the source of the rocks with any I.D. questions, as this may affect tha biology of the rocks you collected.

John, consider the relatively short lifespans (weeks) of those sacoglossan slugs when deciding on a purchase.

Just a thought
