Lets try this again "(150g tank build)"
Okay, here I go with yet another plan for the 150. Some of you may remeber the first set up in my last house on the custom oak stand. The when we moved into this house the first thing I did was rip out the wall between the living room and garage to do the built in routine with a wet room behind it in the garage. When I took the new job and planned on moveing I ripped out the wet room and re-did the wall in order to put the house on the market.
Well, back to square one! I am not going to put it in the same place. I was going to picture frame it but didnt really like the 1 dimensional aspect of that. So now I have a new location and will have two viewing panels and a different set up in the garage that will consist of the sump, water change tank that is semi-automated (Geoff has the design allready in opperation) I came up with and a seperate frag system as well as a QT tank. Also all the other equipment will be housed in the garage. The only thing in the house other than the main tank will be the Barracuda for the CLS and 1 DJ controller for some of the electrical.
Here are a few pics of what was, starting with the first set up of the 150 In the previous house then the almost finished wet room I ripped out.

Here is a schematic of the set up that I will use. This is for the wetroom I had in progress so the actual lay out will be different but the system will be the same on an operational level.

I am still working out a few things but the basics will be the same. ATO with RO/DI, killer skimmer, CA reactor (when needed) and all of that. There will be a bit of equipment but Im not going to go overboard.
I will post a diagram of the future lay out in an overhead format tomorow.
The CLS will remain the same, no sense in changing it since it worked perfectly. And I will still be BB on this one also. All the fish will serve a purpose in the overall natural opperation of the system and the lighting will be 2x250watt MH 14k. The sump will be a 55g as well as the water change tank. The WC tank will be operated on a constant loop that can be bypassed in order to drain, mix new water and then be brought back in line. This will prevent needing to change anyhting in the system or having to shut anything down.

The equipment room will run along one side of the garage and will be very well ventilated to the outdoors. It will also pull air from in the hood , through the equpment ares then outside. Outdoor air will be piped from outside directly to the air intakes for the MR-2 to help prevent PH fluctuation do to stail air in the house. The WC tank will once again drain directly to the sewer and the RO/DI will be hard plumbed to the house.
The whole system will have dedicated curcuits for the electrical also.

Thatnks, the oak or the built in stand? The oak was made for me by my Father in law as a B-day present. Still have it and it will hold my sons 75. I have a matching hood that will fit the 75 as my first tank was 55.

Yeah, Dad did an awesome job on it. It could hold a bus. The only thing is, I was totally new when I designed it so it is too short for much. I wanted the tank to be easily viewd from the couches. Live and learn..

That is a great looking stand... too bad it's a little short.

This will be a slow build ( no comments from the peanut gallery...!) I do think I will get a bigger chiller. Other than that and a few small things I have everything I need.
Tank stand itself will be made from 4x4s and overbuilt. Im thinking of skinning it in bead board wich will go along with the kitchen since it will be in that area. I will attach whatever skin I decide on with magnets instead of hinges because when we re-do our kitchen I will have the cabinet maker make doors to match. Plus with the magnet idea ( got it from Casey and his 200g) everything will be easily removed and out of the way for working on, allthough not much will be in the house. The whole thing will be floor to cieling and the base board and crown moulding will also be a flow from the rest of the room.
Inside the stand, the bottom will be something of a trough that will drain out through the garage to the driveway in case of a leak.
Also, everything inside the stand against the walls and the cieling will be skinned with FRP and sealed with caulking to preven moisture from coming in contact with the walls.
As I mentioned, the whole system will be very well ventilated. The fans in the equipment area will draw air through the hood, across the lights and then out the equipment are. The equipment area will also be sealed form moisture contacting any walls of the house.
