lets talk about shrimp

I have had peppermint shrimp since I've had my tank up, mostly because they're peaceful and I had horses.
Well they keep disappearing on me, not sure why. I had three, then I only had 1, then I bought two more, and now I'm down to one again.
I like pepps, they seem to like to clean the rock and such, but are all shrimp always busy cleaning? I've never seen a pepp clean a fish...
so I'd like to get a new shrimp, and I've always loved the coral banded. Do they do all the shrimpy cleaning duties? I hear some don't like them... skunk cleaners are ok but not as purty to look at as coral banded...

whatcha think?

I may not have large enough fish, but mine doesn't do any cleaning at all!! (3 small chromis, a clarkii clown and a strawberry dottyback) He's also a tiny bit of a bully with the fish. So far has survived one moulting and looking healthy - I am very fond of him since his antennae and claws are so ridiculously over the top!

I like fire shrimp. All red with a few white spots. Any shrimp with white antenia are cleaners I've read. Not all fish will let them clean though. My coral beauty loves cleaning, my yellow tang won't go near them.

I have a skunk cleaner that cleans everything. Fish, my hands, rocks, glass, u name it. Speaking of purty. I have a blood red fire shrimp that also cleans fish on occasion, but he hides a lot too. Very pretty. Here's a link

Thank you!

My fire shrimp does hide a lot, but even though he's hiding, he's still in plain view in the entrance to his cave. The second any kind of food hits the water though, hes out in full force. He usually stays out for a while until he's sure all the food is gone.

In not sure i'd have another coral banded. I had a Gold coral banded which are smaller than the regular ones. He was a mean little bugger and would pinch anything that would hold still long enough. Especially if anything got near his "turf". That would just worry me with horses. I know they arent the fastest swimmers.

Is he aggressive? Mine was mean as can be. He'd even come after my hand. I wouldnt mind trying another one. My 16 gal has no shrimp and the fish are all fast.

there is a fire shrimp in the office tank, and it hides all the time, but as soon as food hits the water it is everywhere... he's quite comical to watch at feeding time....

The coral banded is cool if you don't plan on other shrimp. I loved mine he would eat out of my hand. He didn't really pay attention to the fish but kept the rock clean. Stupid red footed conch killed him. I havn't decided whether to do another cb I think I want to try the blood. I dont really have any fish that require cleaning so I am thinking of going for color this go round.

I don't have horses anymore that's why I thought I'd try something different. One of these days I may just have to go get a coral band and see what happens.

Coral banded's are NOT cleaner shrimp. The fire shrimp and skunks are cleaners they don't have the big claws the CBS has. I have a skunk and a CBS in the 95 they seem to be getting along ok but I have seen the CBS go after my clown and fire goby with his pinchers
