lets have some fun
Ok I havent had a reef with corals nbow for over a month and I am suffering from withdraw. No I have a nice pile of rock and watching the snails pound around the tank has lost it luster. So I am desperatly trying to remain patcient but I need some help. So lets see what we can put in it. this should dter me from rushing...to much...
So lets talk fish....Yea Yea I know but lets do it.
Help me make a stocklist. or at least some ideas.
I want to make the reef fish consist of two sizes. One to be small schools of small fish (anthius and so on) and then the opther type to big large show size (say 6 to 8 inches).
now the only fish I really have my mind set on is an adult Naso Tang (the full streamer model )
so give me some ideas, its been awhile since I have jumped inot the fish world

I always thought a small school of convict tangs would look so cool. Your tank would certainly be big enough for it!

How about Heniochus diphreutes, the schooling bannerfish? Not quite as impressive as the Longfin but you could have a few and they're considered reef safe.
I like the Pyramid Butterfly too (Hemitaurichthys polylepsis); they're hardy for a butterfly. I love my new Coral Rabbitfish (Siganus corallinus) although the Magnificent Rabbitfish (Siganus magnifica) is more striking.

Mojo,
Man if I had your tank, I'd be shopping for a harem of the little angels Either Flames or Lemonpeels - heck with that tank, why not 5 of each! I'd love to see the spawning ritual that they apparently do every evening.

I love the Bannerfish too.
Also, for the 6-8" show-stopper catagory, I think the Pepermint Hog is an AWESOME fish.

Oh yea DOug pick my favorite. But I think with all the corals it might me a little smarter to stay away from the angel species.
Hmmmm the poorman bat. I never thought about Banner fish. They are an african fish arent they. I heard they are easy to keep and are great for schooling, hmmm could be a good candidate.
On the hog fish I have never been a big fan, but keep them coming
thanks folks

Tusk gets my vote. Naso would be nice too Mike. hmmmm
We all know what mandrins do in your tank but you could have a cpl three in yours. School of chromis is a good one or even school of damsils would be cool too

You should put a snowflake eel in there and maybe a panther grouper so we can watch the predatory habits. That would be COOL!
Somehow I don't think you'll go for that though.
I like the emperor angel idea. They're a great looking fish.

I have a Heniochus diphreutes, he is about 4-5" I love him....but he picks at all button type polyps...also he just started to pick at a colony of fuzzy mushrooms. I hate to do it but were are making a trip to the LPS for a trade in.

Tpeck;
Just curious as if you know for sure you have the H. diphreutes? H. acuminatus look very similar and are usually the ones that cause trouble in a tank.
Mike; I always though Heniouchus were an Indo-Pac fish. Not sure of their range.

Boy, it's hard to tell but the longer nose makes it look more like H. acuminatus.
Horge? Jenn? Anyone?
I like the arch in your tank

I fell in love with these years ago, but will probably never get to keep them: Pseudanthias evansi. So pretty, hm... but they'd never make it in my tanks, as territorial as the other inhabitants are.
