Leather is Shedding?

Help.......have a leather (umbrella) that looked like it had some sort of parasites eating holes in him. I dunked him in freshwater for about 5 minutes yesterday. Today I just got home from work all of his outer skin scaled off. It looked like a really bad sun burn. Is the normal, what should I do

It is natural for leathers to shed, this is how they rid themselves of toxins and other bad stuff. Just be sure you have descent water flow so it all comes off but watch that it does not smother another coral because that stuff is sometimes toxic. I would reccomend collecting as much as possible in a net.

I actually took him out gently when i got home and rinsed him in a bucket of water from the tank to get as much off as possible. Nevertheless, some of the excess remained in the tank, but not on any coral just on the bottom. Hopefully this will be ok. Is there anything I should dose the water with, or any additive that i should raise to aid in the healing process
