Leaky Bulkhead

UGH!

So I have a bulkhead leak on a new tank that I can't stop...rrrrr. It's on one of my two 2" bulkheads (CLS feed). I noticed the slow drip last night from the base of the nut (the first time the tank was filled). I watched it (with a bucket underneath) to see if it would stop on its own, but it did not. Today I drained the tank to beneath the bulkhed and reseated it (making sure no more than finger tight!) and refilled. Still the leak. I repeated and filled again. When I get to the point in the picture...the leak starts again.

Any thoughts? Should I silicon it?

Did you try tightening it up just a little bit more than finger tight?

Some of the gaskets I've gotten with bulkhead have been useless. I started ordering the heavier Sched 80 bulkheads instead because of it. You can get a better gasket from savko.com.

yup agreed, sometimes finger tight is just not tight enough.

Thanks all. I'm going to pull the bulkhead and inspect it. If I see nothing wrong, I'll try slightly more than finger tight, then order new gasket, then get new bulkhead, then....just start drinking....

I've got one that's leaking too. I tried to tighten it more and mroe, but to no avail. I've since ordered a heavy duty one, and I'll put it in place next time I'm doing maintenance (my leak is mostly just salt creep, only a couple drips a day).
