Leafy Sea Dragon @ Seattle Aquarium

Mike took Adrienne, Veronica, and me to the Seattle Aquarium Sunday afternoon. Thought I'd try taking a pic of the Leafy Sea Dragon. Terrible photo, but best I could do. No flash of course, so I guess the light reflexion in the upper left is from room lights. It's really hard to tell which are the critters in this pic. There are 3 of them, doing the synchronized swimming routine to the left of the vertical greenery (whatever it is).

btw...they were about 10" long. Much bigger than the ones I saw at Baltimore last year.

Cath,

I am soooooo ashame of you..... Did you miss that sign that said "No Flash Photography".....

Great now we have blind Seahorses, or wait did I cause that....

Aren't the dragons the coolest thing you have ever seen. I wish I could get one.... NOT.... would feel like crap for killing one. But they do make the trip worth while and all their tropical tanks.

Oh, just kidding on the picture taking. I took some pictures then saw the sign, so goes my life.

Jim

I'm glad you guys went to see the sea dragons. I was touting them to Veronica on Saturday night. I can watch them for the longest time.

I really enjoy those creatures.

Both the weedy and leafy dragons! Heck, they beat their cousin seahorses and shrimpfishes for visual impact. They're not only statically beautiful, but their movements are simply hypnotic.

I've never spotted one in the wild ---indeed, I hear that you don't just SPOT one. To find one, you run your gloved fingers blind through seaweed or seagrass beds in the shallows --and hope to snag a few.
