lawnmower blenny

My lawnmower blenny seems to be in good health, except he looks a little thin. I bought some nori to try to supplement his diet. Him nor the coral beauty touched it, not even after I soaked it in garlic juice. What else can I do to fatten him up a little bit?

Mine will eat just about anything. but when I add nori he won't take it with the lights on. I have to leave it in over night, I watched him with a red light a couple of times and about an hour after lights out he tore it up. he also will eat those little sinking algea pellets. Nowadays though he's just a pig that eats anything near him

i have heard some people having problems with LMB eating. i have never had a problem. they would munch anything i stuck in the tank. than there were those silly lip marks all over the glass.

i also fed either blender mush or frozen cubes, so there was all kinds of choices for it to eat.

I feed mine Formula One and Formula Two, plus Prime Reef.

Unfortunately, I have heard of many cases of LMBs not eating in the past year. I wish you the best, and please keep us informed!

He eats off the glass all the time leaving those cute lip marks. I just feel he looks thin. I did leave the nori in all night and in the morning it was gone. I just thought maybe the shrimp and crabs ate it all. I'll have to try it again and watch and see if he eats it. I only tried nori twice and both mornings it was gone.

Grab a flashlight and watch the nori - I bet he's eating. My LWB is just plain fat, he eats every thing - mysis shrimp, flake, etc. and algae too.

When i got my LMB, at first he was a lil slow on getting to eat much,,,,but in time he got to munching on everything,,,(and leaving those lip marks on the glass also, my "excuse " for not cleaning the glass as often LOL) I also found recently, mine was getting thin also, vs. the fat belly it also tended to have in the past. I added more Nori,,and paid attention to what other foods l it liked. I can keep it a lil on the tubby side now, and it seems to prefer being a lil overfed than not.(me too LOL).
Just find out what it likes, offer a variety of foods, 'specially green kinda food,,and you should be ok,,,,
Ditto on what was said about catching it eat, sometimes you miss what it eating,,if you sit in front of the tank,,,mine seems to go thru spurts of feeding, instead of chowing down when the food hits the tank,,,,
Good luck with fattening up your LMB

I left some nori in the tank last night and this morning it is still there. Are there different brands of the stuff? May be he does'nt like the kind I have. I saw the stuff in green, brown, and red. I got the seaweed selects brand which says it's green marine algae.

Seaweed Selects comes in the green. brown, and red. Can't hurt to try one of the others. Mine will go after all three.
