They will try and eat algae off most any surface - including corals - to my knowledge they don't harm the coral itself.

In keeping them, do you need to have a tight lid?

Yes, I also have a wrasse and a psuedo in the tank, so I've made sure my hood is tight.

Lawnmower blennies are sweet. That has to be my favorite fish to watch in the tank. He always goes after my hand when I put it in the tank. Definitley doesnt hurt, but scary when you dont know what is coming. Enjoy the new addition.

Ditto, My blenny is probably my most favorite fish in the tank, He'll nip on a coral now and then but I've seen no indication that it's just aimlessly looking for algea, I've never seen any harm done by him what so ever. He watches me back when I'm looking at the tank it's cute

I love LMB's and they do nip at everything in the tank looking for algae. Mine likes to perch on top of the powerheads just less than an inch from the surface, nuts!! I like it when he decides to clean off a hermit or snail shell, they always think they are being attacked. Great fish, what they lack in flashy looks, they make-up for with thier personality congrats!

Pics!
Already showing its personality, he was turning and looking over its shoulder at me when I was lining up for the second pic. Totally recommend one

Awww, he's cute!
I like the lip marks they leave on the glass, like "kisses"

Yeah, apparently blennies and gobies are ich-resistant because of their "slimy" skin...
