Question

lab testing for DO water?

In trying to determine the water quality of the DO water that I make, I thought I'd get in touch with either the county health department or Clemson Univ. Extension Agency. Whoever checks it will want to know what elements to look for. Are there specific ones that are of concern to a reefer?

OK, I won't call myself a "reefer" to the county agencies

Hey Cath,

I got this from Marion the Librarian, she did a search through the University of South Carolina (as clemson is the local voc school...). To find out what your tap water values are (mains water), look at:

muni water supply tests

and to get your water tested, ask for a sample container at this site and tell them it is well water...

water sample testing

tests for heavy metal, copper, toxic substances (there is a qualitative test for a broad spectrum of these substances, then if it is positive, they will test for the individual compds) You do not need to specify any particular substances, they will even do bacteriological testing for the presence of fecal coli and a few other potential pathogens as well. Just make sure to tell them it is well water, and they will automatically test for all these substances (heh, even nitrate and ammonia!!!)

Hope this helps, btw, what DO you guys do all day at work???

Sincelily yours,

You may need to request test for silicates.

Wink

Thuhston Dahling,

I, too, went to see Cath at the library, and she was hard at work! All those...well...patrons all over the place! During her much needed break, she took out time to do this research for heaven's sake who knows whatevvuh you're doing. (flaps her hand in flighty gesture...) But what she wants to know is why on [i]uhth[/] would you tell the testers "well water" when you know good and well that property is on the east side of Spartanburg city.

Az evvuh,
Lovey

I'm guessing they'll be more cooperative if they think it's well water.
