Krylon spray paint on in-tank parts?
Is it safe to use Krylon Fusion spray paint on parts that will be used in the tank? I plan to use PVC pipe and eggcrate to lift the rocks in my new 55G setup. However, I really don't want to see glaring white plastic parts peeking out in areas where it isn't fully covered by my LR. Would the Fusion be okay, and would this be an effective way of camouflaging the white plastic?

No, you will only deal with white pvc for a few months until the coraline algea begins to grow then coraline algea will grow on everything. then you will hate it.

Okay, if Krylon Fusion is not safe for in-tank parts, what kind of adhesives are safe? I understand that the eggcrate will eventually be coated with coralline, but I'd like to camo it somewhat in the beginning. Could I spray or otherwise apply some type of adhesive to the plastic and then dust/coat it with crushed coral?

I don't know about using it on parts that will actually be INSIDE the tank itself. It may be fine but it seems like saltwater might eat away the paint. Either way, I wouldn't trust it. As fchidsey said, coralline will cover the PVC later anyways.

That could be interesting actually. I'm not sure what adhesive I'd use though. Perhaps someone else will chime in.

It's fine!
I use black Fusion on my overflow. All I could get was clear acrylic.
My overflow is 20x8x4. With 3 coats of fusion.
Just let it cure for 3-4 days!
Heavy SPS tank a year later no problems

Cool. I didn't know you could use it for in-tank parts but that's good to know for the future!

I used it for the eggcrate top of my 28g. That stuff is bulletproof, but I let it dry for maybe three days just to be sure. Between splitting the top half in two pieces and painting it all in black fusion it wasn't a bad look.

Been using it for about 10 years on salt and FW applications inside the tank. No worries

I think you all are nutz my luck i would use that and end up leaching some kind of nastie in the tank and have to buy all new live rock or something stupid.
Thats just me thought.
