Koralia 4's... Hold on!!

WOW, These things are POWERFUL. I have 2 in a 75g and, they are making a mess! Is this to much flow? I'm at about 40x turnover. It's nothing but a storm and they are blowing the crap out of my corals. Blew one frag off the rock during startup. Should I not run both?

Boss,
I have 4 in my 125...I love them...

How do you have them positioned? Maybe you can put them a little lower and angle them towards the surface? Try some different ways to position them, you'll come up with something that works. And, no, I don't think it is too much flow, I think you are just about right!

What kind of corals? If only softies & LPS then you could do fine with one. But the 40x's is a very good amount of flow for about anyting!

Try messing with placement and if you don't get good results, just run one.

i have some yellow polyps that are getting hit pretty hard. The other stuff- green hammer, candy canes, GSP,and some frogspawn, few zoas too. There is only about 60# of rock for now. I think w/more rock the sand storms w/get better. I turned one off for now. Just looked like a hurricane.

Let's see a pic of how you have them mounted - I think placement will help you. I don't think it's too much. I have bought two for my 90 gal tank but haven't installed them yet.

Mounted in each corner. Tried alot of directions. corals just look wind blown and can't keep the sand from stirring up.

I think I see them. Try this - point them towards the middle, one up towards the surface of the water, and the other towards the middle of the tank.

How about putting them in opposite rear corners. Start with them aimed to hit the center of the front pane of the tank. This should/will create a random flow. If you dont have enough flow towards your corals, start to adjust them gradually inwards towards one another, until the flow fits you. I wouldnt aim them towards the surface though, it seems like a waste of power/flow to me. JMO though.

Bounce the flow off of the glass, this will help to spread it out.

I do this pretty often as well, but it can make a mess of your sand. Works great in a bare bottomed tank.
