We have one and had a R.O. unit. The main reason that we use the Kold versus an R.O. is because our landlord (my parents) complained about us using to much of the well water. I like it and I think it does almost as good of a job as an R.O. unit but I would recomend getting an R.O. unit instead. When I hooked up the Kold I went to Home Depot and bought another prefilter that goes inline before the unit to help save the life of the Kold filters. We also hooked up a D.I. unit after the Kold to help remove anything else. HTH
