killer purple plate (fungia sp)

Heres something I never seen before in my reef tanking history...

...until today.

One of my peppermint shrimp had a growth or tumor on him & I think it finally got to him. He couldnt fight the current in the tank and started just kind of floating around going upside down & everything. His legs seemed locked & unable to move. He floated and bounced along the bottom of my substrate & headed straight for my purple plate coral. Well, the plate coral got him. Keep in mind the shrimp is quite large and the plate coral is only about 3" across. The coral is doing everything it can to swallow him but I think he got something a little bigger than he thought LOL

Hey, you can't be mad at the plate. They don't know the difference between the wild and your tank. Was the shrimp molting or did it just die off? Cool pic and nice plate! Looks healthy. How often do you feed it? See ya-

The shrimp I believe was not in good health as a result of the growth or tumor it had growing on his side. I usually dont directly feed the plate at all. I think it just grabs a brine every now and then when I feed the tank. Woke up this morning and the shrimp was nowhere to be seen but the plate coral sure looked happy LOL!
