If you have the ability to test for them, and can accurately put them into your water column in the correct concentrations, then yes, they could be beneficial. Exactly how, i couldnt answer.
if you dont test for it dont add it. Regular water changes with quality salt will give your water all of the elements it needs.
One thing that you can safely add without testing IMO, is kent liquid calcium, epecially if you have a few or a bunch of stonies, or especially if you are using a salt mix that is a little low on the calcium to begin with such as instant ocean products, and then you can follow the dosing directions on the container.
I dont use them. I have a
calcium reactor for my
sps tank and simply dose calcium on my softy/lps tank.
