Kalkwasser drip for a 29 gallon

I havent posted in while, but have been reading when I can. Had a mean algae problem I have been combating for about 3 months, and I think I got it curbed.

Part of my solution to stopping the algae growth was to stop all additives to my tank. I was using the Kent Marine Part A, Part B, and dkh buffer. You add one a day, cycling as you go. So add part A, then next day part B etc. Well now I really feel that these products have somewhat contributed to my algae problem. As soon as I started them back up again, albeit a lower dosage than before, I am seeing new algae growth. Nothing like before, but new growth nonetheless.

So on to the advice I seek. After reading Bishops post, which was great advice guys, and other reading I have done I am thinking of going with a Kalkwasser drip as the only additive I use. Now it being only a 30 gallon, does anyone have experience with controlling a drip in this small of a tank? Also, exactly which product should I get and what device should I use? Ive heard of the ole IV bag, also seen the Kent Marine Kalkwasser bottle with the drip tube?

Any help and experience with a 29 and drip would be great. Take care,

Dustin T

kent marine drip works well,

those additives shouldnt have caused an algae problem, do you have a high fish load, or feed fish alot?

nada on the fish and food amounts. I talked to LFS about this, and was told that part A and B are the only needed additives to buffer calcium and keep dkh stable. Seems that I have been adding A B and dkh buffer, therefore adding too much B and dkh, which must have thrown my parameters out of whack. I have had some phosphate problems from dead sopts and too much rubble on the sand where detrus would buildup. I have taken out about 10 lbs of small pieces of rock and increased my flow and changed the aquascape for better movement. These things all helped greatly and my phosphates dropped. I hadnt seen any new blooms until I stated adding supplements to the tank again.

I am going to stop the dkh buffer and stick to A and B only and test about every 3 days to see if I get any changes?
