Kalkwasser dosing question?

I use a 5 gallon bucket to mix and drip Kalkwasser in my reef tank with the filtered make up water. Afterwards the bottom of the bucket is left with a coating of white stuff, which I assume is left over Kalkwasser that could not be dissolved. So I usually rinse the bucket and toss the extra white stuff. However, today I was thinking that this could be wasteful. Can't I just leave it there in the bucket and add less Kalkwasser the next time I mix make-up water and save myself some money on kalkwasser?

What do other people do? And does anyone know if this is a good idea?

Thanks!
John

No, toss it. You'll save yourself some heartache and your corals will thank you. You might want to consider a sealed container for your kalk as well to minimize the transfer of CO2 into the Kalkwater before it is dripped.
