Just getting back in the hobby...Wow...what a site!!!
I had a 90 gallon Oceanic show tank with a Pacific reef, about 150 pounds of Jakarta live rock, assorted hard and soft corals, a couple of anemones with perculas, a couple of tridacna clams, and a few reef fish. Didn't have near the stuff that's available now and when I started all those years ago there were no sites like this!! It was mostly just trial and error. My wife of 15 years grew to love my tank as much as me, but couldn't understand about keeping fish to a minimum and feeding sparingly. I took a job where I was gone a lot and eventually between my shoestring setup, too many fish and her thinking the fish "looked hungry" crashed my tank. I gave away alot of my stuff and set up an Amazon FW tank that took a lot less time and money. About a year ago I took my tank down as it had become scratched up over the years and we needed the space for a TV. I've been going mad ever since! While looking around on the web for ideas and smaller tanks I found this forum. WOW!!! Wish I had had this resource when I began!!! And I thought I was an advanced aquarist...I'VE GOT A LOT OF READING TO DO! I can already see many of the things we thought were right have been debunked...it seems the hobby is coming full circle to many of the simple methods we employed all those long years ago. I thought I had decided what to do about a new tank but it appears I have some studying to do first! I'll probably have a few questions as I get closer to setting up a tank again...luckily I still have my metal halides and I can build my own stand and canopy so I won't have to spend as much as someone new to the hobby. Looks like I just gained a bunch of new friends!!!...something that's happened ever since I got that first little tank all those years ago!! I look forward to sharing with all of you!!

Hello all!!! I'm located about halfway between Dallas and Texarkana and have always gotten most of my supplies in Dallas (about 80 miles away) or mail order. Probably wouldn't have had troubles even with her overfeeding if I had just been able to put in the time necessary for my tank. I'm off three days a week now!!! so it shouldn't be a problem again. Been looking around for pictures of my old reef...I know there here somewhere? When I find them I'll post them! So far all I been able to find is video. Looking forward to visiting with you all!!

I still haven't found the pictures of my 90 show but here's what my reef looked like in the 58 I had just before it. Wish I had kept this tank as it's the perfect size for my needs now. I'll probably purchase another like it for my new reef. It was an Oceanic 58 reef-ready. The thing I liked best about it was that although it was a small tank (36 1/2" long") it was deep enough (18 1/2") and tall enough (21 1/2") to give a lot of space for rock and livestock! Plus it cost me a little less for materials to build my stand and canopy! The 90 show was truly spectacular at 26 1/2" tall and full of jakarta and livestock but it was much more difficult to work in! I hope I can find photos of it to show you all!!!
