i love dogface puffers, they are one of my favorite fish. They are generally pretty hardy. to tell you the truth i really havent seen one that eats live food, not that thats a bad thing, but most if not all the ones ive seen were feed silversides and the such

im not gonna flame you but its best to do your research before you buy the fish but i will give you a rundown on general care IMO they should be kept in a tank of at least 6ft long in lenth, they sometimes try and eat small fish but are generally none aggressive, they should be kept with fish of the same or general size, they get to be about a foot in length but they are a chunky fish. thats about all i can think of right now...hopefully i covered everything

the dogface doesnt give off a poison when scared but i believe some parts of the body are poisonouse when ingested, so be sure not to eat him..lol, i really dont think 4ft will cut it, you have to see one of these things full grown to really appreciate their size

I had a dog face puffer in my 120 and I loved it. My tank was 6ft long and it seemed too small for my puffer. I had it with smaller fish and she never bothered any of them. One problem I had with mine was I could NEVER feed her enough. She would get upset when I walked by the tank and didn't put food in. She would also splash water out of the tank with her tail when she was upset. I wound up calling a friend with a 200 gallon tank where she is right now and is very happy. Having said that I will say out of all the fish I have ever owned she had the most personality she would also eat out of my hand(now that I'm think about it she may have been trying to eat my hand)
Good luck
Patrick
