Got T5's over my 30 gal and will use them for my 90 gal BB tank too. I've got an sps dominant system, or at least that's what I'm working towards. If you're wondering if they're strong enough for sps, then the answer is very much a YES! In fact, I had to remove a reflector and decrease the photoperiod cause they were burning my corals.

I have a marineland 4 bulb fixture on my 75, but my water quality has not been great so don't want to test the SPS. My mentor at the LFS says I am good to go but I have my doubts

4 t5's on a 75 is cutting it close. I'd say you could do montis without too much trouble, assumiung you have individual reflectors and good quality bulbs. Probably wouldn't try acropora though, unless you get a inexpensive or free frag. Come to think of it, I bet a green slimer will do well if placed up high. Don't worry, those t5's put out way more light than you think.

I don't think I have individual reflectors! It is a marineland. How would I know?

If you're not sure about the reflectors, then you probably don't have them. Individual reflectors clip onto each bulb, you probably have one big reflector for all the bulbs. That's still OK, not as good as individual reflectors, but it still helps. Don't be afraid to give a monti cap a try, they really don't require all that much light (I hope nobody heard me say that ).

Give it some time, my first monti took a month to attach. Make sure your calcium and alk are OK.

I used the blue + bulbs instead of the actinics. It seemed like they provided more light. I do believe they have more par too but I dont remember the numbers off the top of my head
