Kewl Jimbo, what size is that ? looks good, now all you have to do is develop the patience to wait while it cycles , go slow and do it right. Believe me I know its hard but it will pay off in the long run
I can't begin to emphasise how spendy doing it wrong is

Jimbo;
Looks good. I started my 29 almost 5 months ago and I was very frustrated at the results weekly all the ugly algae in the tank no matter what you do you can't keep up with it. Then all the green stuff goes away, then the brown algae appears and on and on, then the tank starts to look great. Stick with it. BE PATIENT, thats muy biggest problem. Ask TRT if you have any doubts there arree great here.

Mine has tons of the brown algae right now and it's growing fast. However, my Ammonia and Nitrites are at zero. I'm working at removing phosphates right now, and will get a cleanup crew soon to take care of the algae. On the brighter side, I can see a spot where my LR is starting to make my sandbed live.
There are several things to keep in mind.
1. Algae is usually just a phase and will pass as the system balances out.
2. There are always things changing and it's fun to watch, even while the tank is cycling.
3. Not only is it cheaper to not try and rush things, but it also gives you time to save up for that next great piece of equipment.

What a mess
Hi all
Hang on I'm fixing my webserver
Should have done this first LOL. Here's a picture of the sump going in and refugium. Still need to drill some holes and insert bulk head fittings, I remove some support members, so I am adding a few extra supports in other places.
Have a great evening! You know what I will be doing

What a mess
Web server fixed.
Bye the way I have a 40g. This is not my first tank had a 55 rt for 7 years
The LFS that I got my lr gave me some amonia chloride to kick start my tank, said it would cycle in 1 to 2 weeks. I have also gotten several live sand infusions from other reefers (Thank You)
Have a great evening.

hi
Finally figured out how to get the overflow, surface scimmer thingy primed, what a pain. Had to call big dave, his suggestion didn't work, finally we placed one end of the tube in picther of water while I plug the end with a piece of plastic, once the tube was in the surface skimmer part of the overflow I uplugged that end of the tube and pluged the other end that was in the picther and inserted into the external part. Finally we got a prime. Kimbre, bless her heart loaned me a protein skimmer, unfortunatly it leaks pretty bad, will have to work on it. Kimbre also gave me some sand and bworms (Thankyou). Well I better get it finished up. Here's a pic of the mess
See you later!

Well it's getting late tonight, everything is running now. Next project is a hood. It will be hanging since I'm going to build a mechanical wavemaker. Fixed the leak in the skimmer. Here's a pic of a bristle worm for those that have not seen them. Kimber was kind enough to donate a dozen or so. It's a little blurry, this little dude is about 1/2 inch in length. They seem right at home cruising all around.
Good Night!
