It's that time of year again... (PIX!)
It's that time of year - when Scott takes his annual bath!!!
About once a year, Scott gets into his big tank, and gives it a makeover.
We were going to sell tickets, but nobody bought one

Big sump - 150g rubbermaid - it doesn't overflow (believe it or not)! I expect the skimmer will be going nuts afterward though! LOL
It's a 1000g. 8' x 6' x 34 3/4" -- that's exactly 3/4" bigger than our doorway to get in here... moving the tank in was an adventure.
Sump/live rock rubble, ETSS 1000 protein skimmer.
The fish stay put. We used to have a big lionfish - sometimes he stayed in, sometimes we brought him out. If it's just a cleaning, he was left in and kept to himself but once when Scott had to remove a troublesome fish, after about 90 minutes of my panicking and nagging, we netted him and took him out. The lion passed away about 8 months ago (old age? He was HUGE and had been in captivity about 8 years.).
Current inhabitants: 6 Mono argentus, 1 Panther Grouper, 1 Vlamingii Tang, 1 Hepatus Tang, 1 Maculosis Angel, 2 Sergeant Major Damsels, 1 Snowflake Eel, 1 Chocolate Chip Star, a few really large, tough hermits. I think that's everyone...OH and Bruce the one-eyed Batfish (had a run-in with an Undulated Trigger a couple of years ago and we removed the Trigger)...
Most fish either came with the tank when we got it from someone else, or have been "donated" when they outgrew their previous owners' tanks.

And speaking of faces... thanks for the segue...
Don'tcha hate it when you get "ring around the face" from cleaning your tank??
I'd say Scott is a good sport for letting me post these pix... but then again, I didn't mention I was going to
Muhahahahahaha

We've got evil sergeant majors in there but they didn't bother him. I asked if anything pecked at him, he said no (not this time!).
The skimmer that he's repairing/testing for a customer (it's a huge RK2) is hooked up to that tank for now - and it's going nuts
Last time I posted a thread like this we got all kinds of jokes about what kind of fish that was, and a few detritus comments

Oh Matt - please do He's seen the thread and he's laughed at it. He's a good sport - besides, if you annoy him he can swat you next time you're in.
You've opened the door - now you MUST have fun with Photoshop - because we are ALL eagerly anticipating it

The M1000 waterproof firecrackers make nice substitutes for depth Charges
