Well I took your advice proactively and actually used my refugium in the matter I had intended it to be used. That first half of the 55 fuge, with the rock, dusters and xenia was meant to be a kind of natural water processing facility. I know dusters do perform a crucial role in the decomposition of detris including poops so I said why not use half of this oversize fuge for a cool display as well as a filtering site.

Anyway, in the MT my powerheads create a whirlpool type circulation with most of the poop settling in one spot, very near to the fuges supply pump. Because debris suspension is sustained pretty much all over the floor except in this one apot near the fuge supply. So today, instead of siphoning poop off the ground i decided to stir it up. I'd say a good 75% of it got chopped up and spit out into the Porites/Duster environment. You say corals love poop, so i made it snow poop in there. I know the dusters are diggin the wonderful poop as well, cuz they are noticeably collecting it on thier appendages.

What do you thik about this method? I will happily siphon poop off the ground but if its a food source that the fuge livestock love.. why not kill two birds with one stone. Feed em while processing phosphate/ammonia/nitrate producing poop. Twas my plan from the start but somewhere along the line i said, nahhh corals and dusters cant love poop, I must've read that wrong. For poop, is almost completely nutrient free as the creater of any givin, turd, would have extracted any nutrients from their digestive system. So if its true, that corals and dusters just LOVE poop, then I am amazed to learn that such beautiful and dynamic lifeforms could get the nutrients needed to sustain those attributes, through FECES!

Well, it depends how much poo it is. they eat it but even I could be overwhelmed with bacon cheezeburgers. I would probably still siphon the lions share of it and jsut stirr up the rest. It's not like you can ever get it all with a siphon anyway

Watch the circular water flow. It collects the detritus well but if you have any branching stonies like acro it can make the grow wierd. They grow with the flow

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

I think they are barnacles man. I dont think i explained it properly but those microscopic hands i was talking about pretty much look exactly like these, except they protrude from pink holes or slits in the porites tissue. If they indeed barnacle type lifeforms I guess its obvious they are another critter that needs the phyto feedings. More phyto lovers or not, I still cant over feed that stuff.
