It there a reef keepers disease?
I was just reading in Discovery magazine that microrganisms rule the world. Scientist are feverishly working to find cures to new diseases caused by these.
Are we creating our own demise? Our homes could be harboring the next major outbreak.
Maybe if we all shared how this hobby has affected us we might begin to see similarities and be able to identify that next attack.
Are you willing to state any symptoms you have be it mental, emotional or physical?

Maybe I am already under the influence of these killer microrganisms.
Do I sound different to you?

Homer,
There is much serious research in progress about bacteria and other micro-organisms in the marine environment that can drastically affect humans. Some of these are particularly nasty......one particular strain is said to exclusively affect people who keep home reef aquariums.
Here is a slide of the suspect organism taken through an electron microscope:

With the exception of Vibrio and a few othe nasty infections I think most reef keepers disease is mental, accentuating tendancies toward OCD, anality, and maniacal behaviour in general. It seems to hit those with addictive personalities esp hard

"Normal is a group of people, all exhibiting symptoms of the same disease", there for you should feel right at home

Reef keepers aren't the disease just a symptom of it... There arecults that have grown from the brain washing of the infected individules....(They call themselves Aquarium Societys)
Maybe a 12-step program is in order....I think however most of the SPS guys are beyond help though..... Sad but true....My husband contracted this "Condition" some time ago and has passed it to myself and now I have begone to see the begining stages in my children... (Sometimes refferd to as Pre-reeferianism)Is an 8 year old suppose to know the workings of a skimmer? I think not....
Someday we may beat it but for now....Lets set up the new tank...
hehehehehe

I know! Let's do a show! Dave and Ivy have a new barn and we could hold a show in there, charge admission, then we could have enough money to help out our poor fellow afflicted reefers!
(Phew! No more Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney movies for me! LOL)

Forgive me, I'm new at this. But I think you should avoid drinking the aquarium water. I heard it can be quite tasty, diluted with 50% clam juice. But full strength should be avoided. So no more straight shots.
