Is there a critter for this?
In my 110 I have 100 Blue legged hermits, 85 Snails (Cerith, Nassarius Vibex, and Nerite), and 2 Mithrax crabs. They have done a great job of keeping my algae problems in check so far. However, my newest problem is brown algae building up between the glass and the sand. My currect critters just don't get deep enough into the sand bed to take care of this. Anyone have a suggestion???

hmmm nassarius are good for going through sand
but you have those
I think there might be sand sifting stars
maybe a fighting conch?
I'm sure better suggestions will come
good luck!

cukes are cool if your willing to take the risk, plus when they filter the sand and expell its a smaller grain which means less detritus will get trapped in it
how deep is your sand bed because most of the critters available for us to use do not go deeper than 2-2.5 inches, I haven't found a reliable one that cleans deep and all over, and snails seem to be content with their butts on the glass

My sand bed is about 4 inches. So far the algae is only about 2 inches down but it seems to be going deeper by the day. I'm afraid if I don't do somthing soon it will go all the way down.
Right now I have 3 very small ocellaris clowns and a bar goby. I plan on getting a Blue Tang, a Bi-Color Blenny, and various sps corals. So I would need somthing that would be compatible with what I plan on getting. Thanks for the advice so far.

This is very normal with a DSB, in fact, if it wasn't there then I would worry.
The conditions under a DSB (high nutrients), and close to the glass (light), are exactly what algae and cyano need in order to prosper.

I guess I'll live with it then. I was thinking this was a bad thing but what SPC said makes perfect sense.
Spanky, I currently have 50 Cerith's, how many more would you suggest I get?
