Is there a book like Marine Fishes for Coral?

Hey all,

I think I'm going to set a record for most books before having any water in the tank.


Here's my "library" so far...

Marine Fishes Pocket Guide by Scott Michael
Reef Invertebrates by Anthony Calfo & Robert Fenner
Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman
Natural Reef Aquariums by John Tullock
The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Robert Fenner
The New Marine Aquarium by Michael Paletta
Ultimate Marine Aquariums by Michael Paletta

What I'm wondering is if there's a book on corals that's similar to Marine Fishes. Something that gives a good overview of various species with a similar rating system. Would Corals: A Quick Reference Guide by Julian Sprung be this type of book?

Yes, absolutely. I bought that book when I first started keeping corals, and I'd bring it to the LFS with me when I shopped. That way I could check the info in the book versus what the LFS was telling me. It also helped decide placement, lighting and flow requirements etc.

I like Sprung's inverts book too but it's not quite as "shopping friendly" as the Corals book.

another nice one is Axelrod's "a guide to corals for the mini-reef aquarium".
is not as nice as spungs IMO but is a nice complent.. nice color shots and placement..also a rateing of easy/ med. and hard to care for
