Is poly fill the same as a poly filter?

if i remember right this works great as a phosphate remover, but it has been years since i read about it?

i want to tage along on this thread :
what is the purpose of this stuff and carbon, someone told me it polishes the water, and will make your fish look like they are floating in mid air .....is this true?

I am an avid user of PolyFilters, I have no idea if they are the same thing, I would be interestd in finding out though.

Nope. They aren't the same thing. Polyfilter has some sort of binding agent (hence the reason it turns blue in the presence of copper.) I don't know exactly what it is, but plain old polyfil, while great for stuffing pillows and straining the water in lieu of filter pads, doesn't have the same properties.
