is my 75 gallon going to break?

I bought a used oceanic 75 gallon glass aquarium. When I filled it with water to test for leaks, I noticed some distortion - the line of the bottom edge in back seems to pinch inward (bending toward the front of the tank) at the edges - the kind of distortion I used to see with my old 55 gallon acrylic tank (only not as bad).

I was under the impression that I wasn't supposed to get such a thing with a glass aquarium?

It does have a center support...that appears to be intact.

Is this thing getting ready to explode, or is this "normal"?

Some deflection with a glass tank can be expected, and if anything I would expect it to bow out, and I think you're telling us that it's bowing in. Can you snap a picture? Maybe that will be a little more clear (at least to me!).

Will post a pic, but have to fill with water again...might be tomorrow.

I'm probably not describing this properly...I'm going to draw a diagram of a top view, to describe what I'm seeing from a front view (if I haven't made this confusing enough...)

That is odd,.. normally speaking the glass bowes outward in the center insted of the corners coming inward. If it's major I would not trust it,.. my glass tanks don't have really noticable bow in them.

can you still see a bow if you look from above/behind the tank and not thru the water... the water maybe distorting your view

From the outside I can't see a noticeable bowing (like I could with my old acrylic tank).

The water is definitely distorting the view. But my worry is that it is because of bowing - if the glass wasn't bowing, I wouldn't be seeing the edges appear to pinch in, would I?

The refraction of light through the glass and water could easily make the edges appear distorted. Next time you fill it up, I'd snap a picture and grab a tape measure or straight edge. From the top of the tank, try to determine how much it's bowing.

im leaning toward an optical illusion, tanks make your eyes do all kinds of stupid stuff. a tape measure is your best friend! fill it up again and pull some measurements, some amount of bowing can be expected, but like everyone already said, the top center should go out, the bottom shouldnt bow at all (unless its gushing water, which you should notice)

I think it’s an illusion too... oceanic uses thicker glass than the other guys do.
