Is it safe for fish and coral???
My 110g has been setup for a little over a month now and all the readings are fine. ph=8.2, ammo =0, nitrite=0, nitrate=0...I have diatoms, pods, and a couple of feather dusters growing off of my live rock. Last friday I added about 20 snails of different kinds and an emerald crab and 2 golf ball sized hermit crabs.. Everything has been fine so far with no dead snails or crabs. So, would it be safe to get a fish or 2 and see how they do, then start getting some coral?

oh yeah, there's some bristleworms and about 100 jellyfish thingy's stuck all over my glass. Also have some kind of leafy plant growing off of my lr. ! other thing, I have never had an algea bloom yet. there was some hair algea and some other dark green algea on my lr when it was bought, but the snails and crabs have done away with that...

has it really been a month or are you rounding.
have you thought about the fish you want to put in there? depending on what you want there may be a certain order you need to add the fish in order to keep the aggression down. rushing this could keep you from getting the critter you really want.

Max number of fish is hard to say; especially if you're adding tangs, which get big and are inefficient eaters (or rather, big poopers). If you do get a hippo and yellow tang, I'd only get about 3-5 other fish, depending on their sizes and your ability to control nutrient import/export. What filtration do you have and how often do you perform water changes?

the faster you can get the nutrients out of the tank the more fish you can keep in the system. if you want to have more than a few fish than you may want to up your water change frequency.
i would not get a blue tang for that size tank. they really like longer tanks than 4'. a yellow tang would do ok. they can stay small for quite a long time.

If you do get a blue(Hippo) and a yellow together I would get the blue first because they are a little timid where the yellows can be a little aggressive.
My last tank was a 110 and I kept those two tangs, a clown, a six line wrasse, and a couple damsels.
Just go slow with the fish. One at a time. Maybe the clowns first because tangs are not really the best 1st fish.

I agree that the Tangs are sensitive and not good for a first fish. However based on my annoying experiences, tangs are incredibly susceptible to ich. So if you get a tank full of fish and then add the tang last and it DOES get ich, then everyone else is exposed. Just a thought. I would start with some hardy corals to test the water.

fish just get in the way
I'd get some plastic ones to look at
I know what the jellyfish are, but I need to do a search to get the name right
