Is #6 39watt T5 bulbs enough for clams??

Just upgraded to nova extreme with 234 watts for my 46 gallon bowfront tank.. Is this enough for clams and other hard corals??? I put the legs on it to keep it off the glass top so it does not heat up the tank.. but it runs very cool with the fans. Can it be set on the glass canopy or keep it off the glass?

be careful some clams get to be 18in plus so i would make sure you get a species that will handle well in the size and lighting of your tank

keep in mind watts per gallon really means nothing..if you have indivisual reflectors you should be alright..and also like was said up above some need moderate lighting and some need very strong lighting...-drew

Agreed, watt per gallon is way outdated and can't be applied to modern lighting methods...I have 6x54w T5's staggered over my 125 with indiv reflectors and keep a Maxima clam in the center bottom with good growth.
