is 20,000k better thans 10,000k?

I was wondering If I took one of my 10,000k 150 watt mh and added a 20,000k If that would help the color of the tank?

It would change the color some, but you will also lose par.

Joe, weren't you having trouble or doubts about your light strength? Keep the 10K to get the extra par. Add some T5HO actinics to balance the color and add some par. JMHO

agreed, 20k will make the corals POP, but you'll get next to no growth

Just tagging on and not wanting to Hi-jack but I know the color temp of the bulbs we pick are to please OUR eyes. But what color gives the best growth? What do coral farms use??

Generally the higher the kelvin rating the lower the par. Lower par means less/slower growth.

but some 14-16k bulbs have less par than 20k

I learned that one the hard way, as soon as my 14k bulb is used up, I'm switching to 10k with actinic supliment

This is very true,.. Like the XM15K for example, less par than the XM20K.

But I'll be sticking to my XM10K's,.. par through the roof!
