How does this work? I am a newbie at this sort of thing, but I am very intersted. Does it require me to be on the comp at a certain time? Or can I do the work at any time. Is it a chat room? Like I said, newbie.
We've got a pretty good FAQ on how it works:

http://www.reefs.org/maco/modules.ph...FAQ&file=index

There are certain times that you will need to be on the PC for chats. Chats are held 1-2x per week and basically what the chats are used for is to talk to the instructor about that week's reading/lab/project/quiz/etc. These last around 1 hr or so and the times are decided upon by consensus of the class and the instructor.

In addition, there is a dedicated forum for the MACO registrants where you can post questions to the instructor and/or other students. The instructor typically checks the board every day to make sure all of the questions are answered.

The instructor will provide lecture notes each week along with required readings out of the books for the course. In addition, it's the instructor's discression if he or she wants to have labs, course projects, etc.

It's really pretty straight forward once you get in the swing of things. I know that both Alice and Doug took the class at the same time I did. It was a lot of work but we all learned a LOT of good information.

I hope this answers your questions. If not, keep posting and I or one of the other MACO instructors will answer them to the best of our ability.

Alice: Chemistry? What's wrong w/ chemistry? (I'm a research chemist by trade)

Will they do this next year? I so want to take Borneman's class, but can't afford it now. Will he teach this class again later?!

While it is definitely possible Eric will be teaching a course at a later date, we can not insure that this will happen, nor can we insure it will be the same course offered. Contact macoadmin@reefs.org and see what options are available to you.
