In tank refugium

We just got a new Coral Beauty for Mrs. Phishnoob's 29g and he is a picky eater. I was thinking about brine shrimp and adding one of those little 7 by 7 by 4 inch CPR in tank refugiums. These are 33 bucks from Marine Depot.

Will the shrimp just blow out the exit holes if we do this? It looks like the holes are opposite from the pump input.

If the refugium is not the right thing for this I will do the old two liter bottle with an airstone method.

refugiums are not that good at supplying pods to a main tank. pods very seldom venture more than a couple cm from their LR home.

was the brine shrimp live? in not try that. another trick is to put the brine shimp in the wash from a pump. it makes it look more alive.

angels can eat a variety of foods, including sponges. is the CB picking off the rocks? is it more on the top or the bottom of the LR. off the top than it is prolly munching on algae. on the bottom it could be either sponges or pods.

This gets more involved Geoff. The other fish I got from the same LFS died within 24 hours..a goby in my tank. Water chemistry is spot on and something is wrong there with the water or they are getting poison caught fish.

The brine shrimp were live...if that does not work then I give up. We dumped some in the main tank and what a feeding frenzy.

The fish we got from another store just eat away and are doing great.

I can't blame the fish here, but hope it survives. There is just one live rock in the tank and I hope if it is a nibbler that is enough.

Hopefully its feeding response will kick in, brineshrimp are pretty poor nutritionally long term,, unless you have rotifer cultures going to gut load them.
Not to beat the obvious, but if every fish I bought from one store died, while fish purchased elsewhere didn't I would prolly stop buying them from the suspect source
