Hi.
Back from Batangas, where the weather was unusually cool and the skies rather cloudy.
Here are some of the few pics that survived TWO camera failures (long story). Forgive the graininess... or better yet, take it up with the folks at Eastman Kodak, because this is all off of those disposable cameras they make and sell... :-)
**please note: these pics are my property, so go easy on 'em

One of the data recording stations, in about 1.3m (4 feet) of water:
The same station at low tide:

This sort of severe low tide is only there from December to maybe mid-February. This leads to annual, significant die-off of coral, and a quick takeover by motley algae (mostly
Ulva and
Halimeda) on the dead swaths of coral skeleta. With every summer comes higher sea levels, and then the corals just simply outgrow and kill off the squatting algae.

The temptation to break off a few frags was very hard to resist.
But I managed... (I ONLY take already-broken rubble)
I'll try to finish compiling the data (temp, light, SG, water velocity)over this weekend. But you have to understand...
Gotta give priority to anchoring all those frags I carted home
horge, darker still
