I'm a killer, now what

I got my first sponge. Its a red Halichondriidae
I didn't remember not to take it out of the water. It now has a white spot in the center of it. I had a couple of people say to cut it....do I?

It was so pretty, I feel so bad. The company I purchased it from didn't say anything about the air thing.

Live and learn...just not at the expense of a coral

Bummer on the sponge, to bad it the source didnt warn you, but never expose sponges to air and never trust the vendor, even the good ones, educate yourself. We all made mistakes, be sorry, and learn and grow from there
