Im not familiar with your tank in question but if your rock is healthy and in sufficeient quantity DONT add live. Go buy some aragonite and rinse it 20 or 30 times(slight exaggeration but only slight), and then put it in.

Fresh start with CLEAN substrate

I agree, using live isnt needed. The life on the rock will seed the sand and you will, in time, have live sand. Adding the sand to a tank with water will result in a sand storm. Just keep the rock and any coral blown off with a power head or turkey baster as the sand settles.
A cycle would come if you had die off of some kind.

im still confused by your answers. first you say its good, and then you say its bad in another thread and then you say its good again?
by the way the crush coral is dead.

If the CC has been in your tank for any amount of time it isnt dead. The bacteria have had time to populate it and there fore it is alive. Tjhat is why you dont need to add live sand. Its cheaper to just by the aragonite and then let the bacteria populate it. Then you have "live" sand!
The CC will trap detritus and make it easier for algae to get a strong hold. Also the CC doesnt provide much in the way of bio-filtration. It basically just acts like a poop trap.

I took out the crushed coral from my nine gallon a few months back... everything is going great now. My levels are (almost) perfect. I stopped over feeding too.
Personally... I would never used crushed coral again. I prefer the live sand. I started a thirty gallon a few months ago, used live sand this time and I'm so much happier with it than the crushed coral.
Good luck Confused Korean. Keep us posted on the progress.

Its all good.......I DID tell Debsisterflo to remove a PC by twisting it the other day.............

i knew better but sometimes we answer questions without reading the threads thoroughly enough.........
Glad you got the crushed out....and like you said...it is MUCH easier to remove without the rock to deal with.
