ID these anemones!


So, ive been collecting mussels and when i collect them from in the harbor some have these anemones on them, they lok pretty cool but no idea what they are, in almost a month they have not split at all so im not considering them a nuisance at this point. Thanks if anyone knows.

Mine do not have any disc on the top of their stalk though, and their stalk is also black and doesnt retract. They havent spread at all either.

Plus, could aptasia live in 40 degree water? these anemones are on the dock in the middle of the winter.

hmmm.. not really sure, although there are several different species of cold water nems, and 40* wouldn't phase em.

Good picture of a big one!


Havent given up on getting these IDed! haha i took them all and put them in a small tank and they spawned! They let off like tiny jellyfish and water levels went crap my gobies almost died so i put them in with the eel but now the jellyfish things (like the medusae stage of hydroids, wondering if these anemones do the same thing?) have attached to the walls and i guess theyll grow. Anyways heres my biggest one of these nems, about an inch and a half across. Can anyone ID it?!
