ID please!! a polyp???




not sure whats these guys are. when i first got my tocks they were white with flourescent green eyelas like things. now they have gotten bigger but are now brown. today i thought maybe they need more light so i moved the rock closer to the light, before they were underneath another rock so not much light. ok thanks

It seems to be brown button polyps (Palythoa sp.)

from the pic I would guess palythoa as well...if so they grow and spread reasonably fast and are very hardy

yeah it looks like they are starting to spread out. if i look very close i can see something similar growing next to it but they are very small. i am not realy going for a reef tank becasue i plan to have a coral beauty and probably a puffer. but in the mean time should i be adding anything or do they just eat whatever??

When you see mature sps tanks, you may wonder why you rarely see palythoa's present. From my experience they can get out of hand, and will sting many sps corals. Maybe not as bad as aiptasia, but many eliminate them after a while. Fortunately they grow slower than aiptasia also. Some of the nicer ones are slower growing than the brown ones.
