Ok ID needed please, My yellow polyps have been dieing off for some time now i know part was from the anemone and part i think was from this thing that showed up one day and just started to spread! Before it was hard stuff and today i just pulled the rock out and it came off like black tar. Any ideas??

If not its cool because it is gone

Thats that brown/black sponge of death. Thats the technical name of it.

Thats stuff sucks. either pick/peel as much of it as you can off, and then monitor because scraps will come back, or ideally, take a razorblade and skim a thin layer of rock off with it so you get it all.

Ive had that stuff kill a couple heads on a hammer before.

well i took a screw driver and dug into the rock about 1/8 " so it is only on that rock that has the tree coral and the yellow polyps the two things i like the most!!!!!!!! and the best looking things anyone ever seen.

Well all i can do now is monitor the rock. Will it skip around?? Like by me puttin the rock back into the tank? Will it go onto the next rock or only stay on that rock? If only on that rock i can cut that part of the rock off to be safe.
