Ich

I'm fighting Ich in my tank right now.
3 Fish have died so far and I don't want to lose anymore.
I have been dosing Ich Attack: http://www.novalek.com/kordon/ich_attack/index.htm
I don't know what else to do but Ich attack doesn't seem to be working too well.
I turned the filter, and protein skimmer off. Left just the two powerheads on.
I don't want to use anything in my main tank that will kill my inverts.
I plan on going out and buying a 10 gallon QT tank this weekend.
Beucase of work, and the short hours of the LPS, I don't have time till sat.
I hope everyone can make it till then.

55 gallon, Been up for 9 months.
65 lbs of live rock
Clown fish, 6 Line Wrass, 4 Green Chromis
Feather duster, Sea urchin, Cleaner Shrimp, Emerald Crab
Few snails.

Any is much appreciated.

turn on your filtration get the tank stable then get the qt.
Im not a fan of "reef safe" meds.
What fish died so far and what fish are showing symptoms?
If you can you catch your with out too much trouble you could do a fresh water dip.
Can you get some pics up so we can verify that it is in fact ich and how bad it is?

you can get rid of it but its not exactly easy,

First thing is to make sure water quality is good, like fish are fed well, nitrates down etc.

Have you tested lately if so whats all your paramenters,

I'm sure you've read about the 2 cures for ich,

1 hyposalinity and 2 copper meds

both require a quarantine.

I had really good luck with a huge and I mean huge UV on my tank but this is not the recommended way to go about this battle, It might and probably won't work for you but if you got extra cash laying around and don't want to qt you might think about a UV.

Hypo or Copper are garunteed to work though.

Ok, I turned my Protein Skimmer back on. I have a Hang on Filter running Carbon, should I turn that on also? So far I lost a Goby, Clown, and a Dottie back ( The dottie was the newest fish and it came from a New Pet store, never had any problems before. I will never buy fish there again. Will also QT everything from now on.

ALl except the 6 Line Wrass are showing symptoms, The Chromis look sickly are constantly gettting cleaned by the shrimp, however the clown doesnt allow it.

All seem to be eating, I use Vitamins in their food that I got from DrFosterSmith

The clown is the only one I can catch to Freshwater dip. I do it when I wake up and he looks bad (Like hes been sprinkled with sugar). Ive done dips from 5 mins-25 mins long, depending on the amount of time I have.

Hyposalinity is your best bet. It worked wonders for me.

Yea go ahead and put the filter on to and feed garlic if you have it.
You can do some water changes concentrating on the sand bed to capture the paracyte in that stage of its life cycle while lowering your salinity slowly. dont drop below 1.018 with your inverts.
Keep up with the Fresh water dips but dont exceed 10-15 mins.
other than that not much to do until the qt.
As much as i hate them you could go to walmart to get qt or a rubbermaid to medicate them in and fed ex meds from online or do hyposalinity.
if you do hypo make sure you have refractometer to get the salinity right.
Good luck!!!
