and yes I have kept several species that I was warned not to, including a leopard wrasse which I trained to eat spirulina, mysys & flakes & pellets, and a BTA and a LT

Guys, I'm new to the forum, too. It's not just with marine life that people need to research, it's with any kind of pets. I'm sure you at least you knew you had an anemone - right? He saw something pretty and took it. Geez, I scuba dive. Most of where I go is protected reef and I see divers touching stuff all the time that they shouldn't be. We're there to observe, not collect. If you're going to collect, make sure you know what you're getting.
I can't help it if you read into my post more than what it stated. Not everybody is going to agree on everything. I didn't post what I did to be malicious. People just need to be more careful.

I am guilty then. We have a Rose BTA that is getting huge (well over 6"). I hand feed it krill or a silverside every other day.

That is about the same size as mine. I have a smaller one, too that doesn't seem to be doing well lately. I don't think it was all that great when I got it.

I don't think that any of us disagree with what your saying Melissa, most of the people you meet here really care about the animals in their care. Speaking as someone who has attempted CPR on a mandrinfish rescued from the LFS, poor thing was in a 20gal with half a dozen tangs and no LR, I know I do. Sometimes its even harder to say what you mean without saying too much or too little. The best thing to do, I think, when something bothers you, is to ask more questions.

On the other hand, I was at the jetties the other day, catching butterflies for my FO tank, when someone asked me if I didn't think it was wrong to catch them and put them in a tank. About that time, not 10 feet away, a guy pulled in a 22 inch redfish and popped it in a cooler for eating later. "Yea, but he's going to eat. Yea, but I'm going to try and keep mine alive!" Doubt that I convinced her, or do I even care if I did.
