What kind of light meter are you using?
I'd love to replace the PC bulbs over my 155 with something more efficient. I just can't make a decision as to what to go with. This is a soft coral tank, but it's also 6' long.

The Atlanta Reef Club has a PAR meter. I just borrowed it from them and tested my tank. I can't remember the brand of meter.

How far are your bulbs off the water, and how old are they?

About 2 months old and the bulbs are 5 inches from the water. Do you think my sand bed is suited for a clam?

Depends on what type of clam, some don't like the sand, but those that do will be more than happy there.

Thank you! I just added a Purple Haze acro frag from live aquaria today. It is on top of the rocks. It will color up in no time. My tank is SPS and a few LPS.

Oh, I figured everyone had already read my speal on this.
Par measures photosynthetally avalible light, light that plants can can use for photosynthisys and growth.
LUX measures visable light, weighted heavily in the Green specturm with is worthless for plants.
Lux works as a good indacation of light, but doens't nessessarly tell you if you have light in the right areas to be usefull for your coral.
This is the short version,
Whiskey
