I need some suggestions

As of right now my tank setup consits of a 55 gallon, aquac remora skimmer, fluval 405 filter and 3 mj1200's. I am getting tired of looking at all this equipment inside of the tank and the stand for my tank is not the strongest in the world. I have decided to build a new stand and see that as an opportunity to toss the fluval in the garbage and make some kind of sump or refugium or both in one to fit under the new larger, stronger stand. I am looking for some input as to what i should buy/build for under the tank that i can mount one pump in as well as the heater and skimmer and whatever else is needed. I have a 10 gallon tank laying around and i am hoping i can use that for it. any input is greatly appreciated.

I wouldnt toss the Fluval, canister filters are handy for doing tank maint, but not run all the time. You could use the 10g as a sump but thats kinda small, you would have to section off the sump so that you could keep the water level high enough to run the Remora, but seperate the return side so you can lower the water level to allow room for drain down from the overflow in a power off scenario. You will need an overflow box setup since your tanks not drilled. Things to think about
In my experience constant upgrades to an existing system wind up costing more in time and money and redos than carefully designing the system you have in mind, then hashing out the details before starting the build

i plan on building the stand about 55" long by about 22" deep so i will have alot of room under the tank. is there a better size tank i should go with for a sump. and thanks for pointing out that i will need i high level fin the sump for the remora as i didnt even think of that. this is gonna be tough as this will be my first sump/refugium build.

and is there anyone who would be so kind as to show me in a sketch or explain how to build a sump where i can keep the level high for the skimmer on one side and low on the other for a power outage. i would hate to not be able to use the remora after i just paid $200 for it a few months ago. thanks

I used a 20 long under my 29g first reef, then used it under my 55g I upgraded to, that 55g (lower and wider) became the sump for my 75
