I need some electrical advice on a 12V power supply!

Here is my question....I am running a Nano Cube ICA chiller. Quick background ....its a peltier device that runs on a power supply, heating on the side with the heatsink and fan, while cooling on the waterblock side to pull heat from the water.

http://nanotuners.nanocustoms.com/na...products_id=79

Anyway, it's currently running on the provided 8V adapter, but in order to pull even more heat, I woud like to hook it up to a 12V adapter. However, I have burned out two 12V adapters so far. I was told this change was possible, but I'm not sure why my adapters can't handle the load. The voltage is correct, but I don't underdstand the amperage, and whether I need more or less or if thats even a problem. Sorry for the long explanation, but maybe one of you electrical savy reefers can help me out. Thanks.

what is the amp rating for the 8v supply provided with the chiller?

my guess is that you are burning out the 12v ones because they just can not handle the draw in amps that the chiller wants. i do not know the exact conversion, but i would guess that you would need to half again the amperage rating on the 8v version to satisfy the chiller in 12v configuration.

i am hoping some more electrically oriented folks will correct me if i am wrong, but this is how i would go about finding a supply for it.

Your transformers don't put out enough amps and thats why there burning out!look on the chiller or instruction sheets to find out the load.

Thanks for the help. I'm at work now, but I'll have to check out the amp rating on the two converters I'm using. My chiller was actually bought used so no instructions were provided. I have contacted the retailer who sells them so hopefully they will get back with me.

I guess I should look for a 12V converter that can handle a higher amps and give it a try. Thanks.
