I will be setting up a new sump over the next few weeks & i need a new submersible return pump. I've heard, & experienced RIO's My new skimmer uses a sedra 3500 & the construction looks good. I've heard the Mac's are of good quality too. So now what do you guy's think of these or others that WORK WELL.

I've used a bunch of Mag-Drives, and they've never given me any problems.
Gen-X's are too noisy for my sensitivities, at least the one I've used. It's sitting in a box waiting for something else to break before I use it!
You've probably already made certain decisions, but I went with externals on my present tank, and haven't been disappointed. Primarily because they don't generate as much heat, so I've been able to avoid a chiller.

I have a Flotech (it's all composite resin) 3500gph from HD it was 99.00. I have been trying it since March in my 300 but it does seem to warm some (I keep an eye on it). It was modified a little before adding it into the tank. I tried a 7000gph and it was way to much but I could see my fish since they were stuck against the acrylic....LOL I never knew the pump could move an 80lb rock down the tank.....lol
