I lost!!!

After a long battle on ebay last night.........I lost the bid for the asm g1 skimmer.
The starting bid was 70.00 and it went up to 160.00 in the last 2 minutes.

Now the question is....................... I have the opportunity to get a berlin classic venturi skimmer and a berlin classic with turbo upgrade kit for very cheap $$$.
Are these skimmers any good? I know a lot of red sea products stink.

I used one when I first got into the hobby. Soon upgraded to a precision marine bullet 1 and now to a Deltec AP600. I would not recommend the berlin. They are very difficult to dial in and get working well. Mine worked ok after I replaced the Rio pump with a Mag9. The venturi is also better if replaced with a better quality one. It would sometimes skim very well and sometimes not at all. A few mornings I woke up to small floods because it just started to skim water out of the tank and overflow.

No, they don't skim well. There was a time years ago when these were one of the best, but technology has come a very long way since then and these skimmers have not been updated.

The G1 would almost literly skim circles around the Berlin Turbo, in fact if they were on the same tank the G1 would probably skim the Berlin out of the tank.

I'm not sure if this is the same skimmer or not but I had a red sea berlin skimmer and it was almost as big a peice of cr*p as my ex! Save your money! I know have the coralife 220 supper skimmer and it will skimm more in one day than the berlin did in a month.
